The first fifteen days of this month have been dedicated to the finishing my portion in the book, “Power Principles”. Being a dream of mine to write a prolific epic, the finishing outcome has invigorated this chapter of my life. Writing in between the same bindings as Brian Tracey is a consequential occurrence I am living. I have always alleged, the journey is the triumph and the end is the lasting joy.
It was mentioned by a wise man, “you create your own luck“. Through
out my years of awareness, I have found this to be true. Have you ever
said, “they have all the luck”. You cannot catalogue this as pure luck. If
it was, we would all be winning the lottery. Though my desire has me buying a ticket now and then. When you combine positive attitude with tenacity and confidence, you build a world where quality effects occur. You find days filled with accomplishments and smiles. You feel as though you are physically powerful. You mentally encase yourself with “not a care in the world” thought. Days are joyful and filled with energy. There is little room for disappointment. You begin to forget the past or the bad luck associated with it. You have reached a place in life you can exist in. You were there once before. Somewhere, somehow you‘ve gone astray. Positive thinking is a powerful tool to survive each day. It always feels fresh and new. Is this really good luck?. Bad days are recalled and dwelled upon, good days will glide you through the day with ease. The jubilation
is attractive. Can this good luck last?

The Eyes Have It!

Here is a helpful hint: The Eyes have it!
“Eye contact ” for the most part, is an important
negotiating tool. There is no sound or inflection
involved, just an action. Our observation of another
person negotiating, is to scrutinize two things, their eyes. When a person gazes at you and does not bat an eyelid this is an indication of control. It can also be misconstrued as intimida-tion. When your eyes wander, it can signal of weakness, lying or uncaring. Most individuals are unable to manage or control their eyes. It is difficult to affix your eyes for any period of time. Some wander often, which can be bothersome to another party, especially a prospect. When training managers, I worked with an individual, who was unable to speak to a client without their eyes wandering. I explained how important it was to affix your eyes on the prospect while presenting their views. They were unable to speak and look intently at the same time. Being easily distracted, I placed them on an exercise. I would stand directly behind them for a period, monitoring their negotiations with a prospect. I stood diligently, not taking my eyes off of them. Easily distracted, this exercise lasted for days.
A prospect noticed this exercise and respected
the efforts put forth. This manager was able
to overcome his deficit and became a more
powerful negotiator.

"I Understand” as promised. At any time you are faced with a situation in which you find yourself lost for words, stuck or in a position where the other party is very heated and disturbed, this will help alleviate any tension and keep you neutral. “I Understand” is a neutral response and places the position back to the other person leaving you in control of the negotiation. As a director of sales, I was confronted with this situation. The husband who decided to show his wife, the man he was, approached me and proceeded
to let me know how unhappy and disgusted he was. This happened in July when our air conditioning broke down and 70+ tours arrived when there was only room for 30 in the lobby. As he un-loaded his well planned barrage of comments, I stood with my eyes affixed on him and looking up since he was much taller.
I did not flinch, repeatedly said “I Understand”. I said this approximately 10 to 12 times. Finally, he subsided, ran out of comments and went back to his wife. As I turned to walk away,
I felt a tug on my arm by another man. He proceeded to tell me that he had never seen anything like that. He said, “that was amazing, you never flinched or gave in”. As you might imagine,
I walked away with a secret grin knowing the control I kept with this negotiating tool. For any area of negotiating, “I understand” places the burden for explanation back to other side.

HAPPY NEW YEAR!

In April 2009, I visited a powerful seminar hosted by Gerald Rogers, as written about in volume one. Overcoming Fear, as presented in that particular seminar, we perform an exercise.
To have an arrow lodged at your throat, walking towards it and snapping it before puncturing the skin, sounds scary and
over the edge, right? How about this, an 84 and 82 yr old women
zip lining through 11 lines, high in the tree tops on the island of Saint Lucia. I had the chance to video tape my mother and her sister, and my two sisters zip lining through the forest. What a treat, to watch the faces of the audience, witnessing women in their80’s flying through the air.

At first my aunt was nervous, not because of height but of her heart condition and associating it with excitement. She took on the task along with my mother and they had the time of their life. It reminded me of the movie “Cocoon” when all the old people were young again with no worries, yet the care takers (younger people) were shouting “you can’t do this”, “this is not right”, “you are too old”. How many times this is prevalent in our life when we are told we can’t. Or we are too old to accomplish things and the older we get, the more fearful we are. Even my sister, who is severely afraid of heights, loudly zipped through the treetops having a great time and sense of accomplishment. When a new baby is born, they have one fear, the fear of noise. Everything else is instilled in us through our conditioning in life. Fear is the ultimate show stopper; it will interrupt some great memories and accomplishments, good or bad. When you get knocked down, get up and try again. You ultimately will be boss of your destiny with a few stories
to talk about.

It is Tuesday, August 11 and I am hours away from sharing my experiences in negotiating as a guest speaker to the Grand Strand Real Estate Investor Association. I have share this information to many, who have capitalized by implemented it on their own accord. I love teaching and helping people to be successful. My biggest thrill is when they have approached me and informing me that they still use my tactics. Getting back into speaking and seminars if a wonderful thing for a speaker. Not because you stand in front of a crowd receiving respect. It is because the more you speak the more you teach yourself. By sharing, I condition myself to become better. It is a wonderful time when you reach that moment.

Remember this when a superior does not want to teach you to be as good as he is or better and is nervous about you replacing him. You are being told that you will not learn more than what is necessary. What are you, a cage monkey? Maybe it is time to get a new boss. When looking to be managed, just remember, there are thousands of bosses very few managers. Michael

Moving Forward

You know, I here so many say we are just making it or we are keeping our heads above water. In most cases they are doing better than that but they do not see it. I look at this way, if you are breaking even, you are moving forward, you are winning. So many are loosing everything yet the fortunate (break even) are less appreciative. I use to live in Atlantic City, with a saying; when you go to the casinos and you walk out even, you won. That means you received entertainment at no cost. People need to think great and positive. I watch very successful folks drown in their own cancer. I was taught that when you have the knowledge to create you will always survive. But, stinking thinking is a cancer like quicksand, once you get sucked in, you keep sinking. Everyday, people will ask, how are you doing? I would answer; great, fabulous. They respond; that is wonderful, as if they are surprised. That is because no one says it, misery loves company. If I am up or down in career or money, I will always say I am great. I do have a confession, I got caught up with those individuals that would say "we are hanging on by our fingernails". What you think I said, often? Then I made an amazing discovery, I left their world. I am now back on the path to greatness. Great beliefs, great feelings and great success. Ever since I broke the chains and driven into my mind the positive thinking, things are starting to click, they are easier and more fun. The world above is handing me new people to be around, with great thinking and great contacts. I do not watch the news because of the drama. My world news, is cheery and rosy (sounds like somebody you want to slap, lol). I wake up happy with no worries. I plan my work and work hard. I go boating and fishing. I planned a eight day cruise for December. And I am not griping about just hanging on with my fingernails. Positive thinking is hard to sustain, but if you can manage it, it will be very rewarding. I have been behind on presented this information. The past few weeks have been very busy, which is a good thing. Finishing the design of my long awaited website (http://www.mbicu.com/), the planning of this new business venture and continuing business with sales of properties. I am very happy that everything is starting to come to fruition. I have designed a newsletter (Invest Digest) that you can sign up for on mbicu.com. It is very insightful to the investing and sales approach. I guess you could say that I am open for business.
I am in Tampa, FL spending a couple of days with extremely influential contacts to the investing world. These contacts are directly connected to Odell Barnes organization, known as the foreclosure king. I am here to learn and observe the business. Through knowledge and understanding, I will implement this business through my website. It is exciting to be part of a team that not only will help rejuvenate America but also will assist to making the dreams of individuals come true again. The American way, to buy and own your home.
One little advice in the sales world. Be positive at any cost. Now a days, it is easy to get down on everything. I have been there. We are bombarded with so much bad news and negativity. How can yuo help, but feel down. One little flaw to that, negativity breeds disappointment. When you make yourself be positive, you attract success in every little thing. Example: Look at a rose negative, the rose is ugly. Look at it positive, it is beautiful. Times that by a thousand and it becomes a wonderful feeling. Just remember, it's not how high you jump but how high you bounce when you hit bottom.

It is June 4, 2009 and as always such a great day. I have been very busy arranging my new website and trying to write offers on three properties. It is exciting to work on progress instead of falling in the same trap as everyone else. The funny part is, it is not that bad. I believe we create most of our problems. You know the saying, give an inch, take a mile. Well we have an inch of bad, we create a mile just by our mind and thoughts. Go figure. It is very easy to get depressed and extremely hard to pretend your happy when you are not.

I find myself very positive everyday. I do not know if I was blessed, embedded or brainwashed with these thoughts. It can be a little sickening to a particular person that does not wish to be happy. I always remember that great song "don't worry, be happy". Amazing how that hits home. Worrying can be a great evil. It plays with your mind and physical body. When you worry, your mind takes time away from being happy. It literally steals a moment of comfort and bliss. Have you worried about something and then find out everything is okay. For that moment of worry was waste of time. For your physical self, worrying creates stress. Stress releases a poison in your body. Your body will wear and be abused worse than anything you could put in your body.

In others, "do not worry until it is time to worry"!
